Thursday, October 1 I was wakened thinking about an interesting story in the bible. That story is about Abraham’s and Nephew Lot’s journey. For a long time as the bible mentions later in another book “I think the book of Hebrews” referred to Lot as a righteous man. That often puzzled me only because Lot made a decision to dwell outside the gate of Sodom and Gomorrah; a place that looked like the garden of the Lord but it really was a sinful dwelling place.
I’m going to jump over to the place that was revealed to me that answered my question about Lot being a righteous man.
I don’t know if you’re familiar with the story of Abraham and Nephew Lot leaving Abraham father’s house but if you would like to read it, its in the book of Geneses chapter 12 through Geneses chapter 19.
Now in reference to Abraham’s Nephew Lot being a righteous man. Here is what I discovered. Lot dwelled outside the gate near the sinful city of Sodom and Gomorrah. Sin had erupted greatly in this place. At the same time, God visited Abraham to reveal he will be with child. At the departure of God leaving Abraham, He informed His friend Abraham that He was about to destroy the city of Sodom and Gomorrah. Immediately Abraham begins to intercede for the city. Abraham prayed many prayers that if the Father could find a number of righteous persons would he not destroy the city. Abraham prayed the last prayer “Suppose 10 should be found righteous in the city” The Lord said he could find 10 righteous He would not destroy the city. Then the Lord went His way leaving Abraham.
Then next two angels showed up at Lot’s house rushing him and his family out which was only 4 of them; Lot, Wife, 2 daughters. Lot’s family was the only righteous group of people.
So what made the family of Lot righteous? What made Lot righteous although he dwelt in a place of sin for years. Lot was righteous because of his covenant with Abraham. The people who lived in the city of Sodom was not part of the Covenant of Abraham so when the fire consumed the city of Sodom, the city could not withstand the fire of God’s purifying cleansing and the entire city was burned.
It is the covenant that we have in Christ Jesus that can withstand the fire or a turbulence in our personal lives. This is why we don’t have to worry about who is a false this or a false that because the fire will allow the revelation of truth be known. The Father will pour out his spirit of truth over a nation, a place, a people and/or person and that spirit is as a consuming fire. Those that are in covenant with The Christ Jesus are not consumed but are filled with power, wisdom, knowledge, understanding, strength, courage and everything else that are as ONE in all good things that Christ is – The Glory.
There is so much that was poured out, the enlighten knowledge that I could not write it all in this post. This information gave me so much understanding in my today culture.
The question I or maybe you should ask is not about someone else actions, but are you in covenant in Christ Jesus our Lord. The Lord will take care of the purifying of His treasure. (Gold is purified by fire and all impurities separates during that process). My only concern is that I remain a child like heart to seek to know more so when the next time the consuming fire comes, I will be as gold – His treasure.
You all be super blessed and be His treasure!
The Lord possessed me at the beginning of His way, Before His works of old. I have been established from everlasting, From the beginning, before there was ever an earth.
For many years during the first of the year, I would pick a business or a church establishment to send Hershey’s Chocolates as a appreciation for their memorable service that most often left an impact on my heart the previous year.
I choose Hershey Chocolates because of a particular part of history the company foretells. Let me give you a brief condensed version of Hershey’s Company beginnings.
The Hershey Company was originally owned by Milton S Hershey, who founded the chocolate company in 1894. The Hershey Company wasn’t Milton first candy business. Milton founded a candy shop in Philadelphia in 1873, which failed six years later. After unsuccessfully manufacturing candy in New York, Milton moved back to Pennsylvania where he founded Lancaster Caramel Company. In the 1900 Milton saw a chocolate making machine for the first time, by seeing the chocolate machines, Milton Hershey sold the Lancaster Caramel Company for 1 million dollars. It seems that people gave Milton criticism for selling Lancaster Caramel Company but Milton made a statement to the people, “He stated to people who questioned him, “Caramels are just a fad, but chocolate is a permanent thing.”
Milton’s process of chocolates, creating the oldest chocolate company in the United Stated started in 1896 – 1903. In 1903 is when Milton began construction of a chocolate plant in his hometown, Derry Church, Pennsylvania which later became Hershey, Pennsylvania. And from there, history is made where many of Hershey’s chocolates that we have today.
There is much more to the making of Hershey’s Company I will not expound upon in complete detail. I want to share an amazing passion that Milton Hershey is involved in as the reason why I selected the company for distributing chocolates to others.
In 1909 Milton S. Hershey founded the Milton Hershey School for orphans. It has been said that Milton Hershey was a charitable person and that he gave many times in secret. History stated that there was one time Hershey saw a clubfooted boy walking through town, and quietly paid for the cost of the operations needed to fix the youth’s foot. In another case, a boy was severely beaten up by bullies. Again, Hershey quietly paid all the medical bills.
Milton and His wife Catherine Hershey was unable to have children of his own, donated all of their wealth, about 60 million dollars to the boarding school upon his wife death. As of today, Milton Hershey School is one of the riches orphans school by America’s largest chocolate company’s. The school provides free education, health care, counseling and a friendly home to 2000 orphans in financial need. The school provides programs include sports, arts, religious studies, sciences, math, language and many other subjects. And to add to the school amenities, the students wear uniforms provided to them by the School to encourage equality. Their admission is primarily based on age and financial need for the orphans.
As I sit here thinking about who will receive my yearly Hershey’s Chocolates gift, I thought to write about it, sharing the story with you, that will perhaps read this blog post; reminded during the holiday’s when you are buying your favorite chocolates, to know that you are apart of making an orphan smile every morning from a warm bed by your love, my love of Hershey Chocolates.
